TALKING OF TELYARUP

Mick Mouritz tells of his time in Gnowangerup at his step brothers’ farm in the early 1920’s
.
"Talking of Telyarup.
When I went down to learn farming with Arthur, lambs it was right in the time when were dropping.
One day when Arthur returned from helping Leo Treasure to take some sheep along the road to a sale in Gnowangerup he brought home a baby lamb, nobody, least of all the two children were very interested as to where it came from.
As all lambs are dear little innocent things it was given the name of Billy-Ba-Ba. Well, time went on and this lamb grew to be a rather good looking ram.
When shearing time came around Billy-Ba-Ba had to be clipped. As was the usual system with the stud breeders they like to leave a good coat on the rams, preferably shearing them with hand shears.

However thats how this prince of rams was shorn, and the truth of his origin was revealed.
He had come from out of Timms Stud flock, through the fence following the sheep as they moved down the road.
The temptation to let him follow the sheep was too great, thus Telyarup lost what afterwards turned out to be a very welcome addition to Arthur's flock.
So much for the stud world and all its glamour.”
